Performing at the BING Theater LACMA 8/16/15 6-7p.m.

The Flutesonic Orchestra premieres new orchestrations at this concert of the Greystone Mansion Series.  Enjoy what the string bass I’m playing brings to this ensemble of fine musicians as we bring a little bit of Jazz into the classical world. Our recording includes a Fred Selden arrangement of Bobby Timmons “Moanin'”.

Time for some Solo Bass

I'm all about that bass!
I’m all about that bass!

At the Husdson Loft in DTLA we celebrate a wedding.  One forward thinking bride loved my sound so much she requested me for her festivities before the full live band came on to really keep the party going.  We had a wonderful time.

I love playing this song by Duke Ellington.  I recorded it for Askew Too, it got radio play.

Celebrate Birthdays July 24, 25, 26!

Yes this month, on the 25th to be exact, I get to complete one more trip around the sun as I ride on this terra firma we call Earth.  Yeah for me and my wonderful girlfriends Sylvia Callender, Sally Peterson and Julie Bransky who are maybe 1 or 2 days away from me on a similar ride.  Also a shout out to Michael Ankey another 7/26/b-day…We are making it!

I would love to invite my friends and fans to help me get this party started by visiting me at one of the 3 public gigs that are scheduled for that week end.  Friday the 24th with Marguaret Love and the Lovettes at Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles in Long Beach, 9pm-1 am.

Blues Lovers Unite!!
Blues Lovers Unite!!

In less than 24 hours of birthday celebration time I’ll be back on a bandstand with Doug Legacy and the Zydeco Party Band at Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen Downtown Disney  Saturday night from 7-11pm. On Sunday night the 26th it will be party time at Colombos in Eagle Rock 1833 Eagle Rock Blvd. 90041. There will be much to celebrate with Eric Ekstrand trio jazz.  If you have any party left in you by Monday….the revelers will be out at Colombos Monday night jam including b-day girl Julie, Leslie + ???

All these places have great food for my hungry followers and revelers.

The Flutesonic Chamber Orchestra, winner of  the national auditions Greystone Concert series presents their summer concert featuring David  Shostac.  We are a full range, beautiful and unique orchestra: Performing baroque concertos, modern, and romantic works with absolute precision and the joy of life and beauty that great music holds.

Feature Works:  Vivaldi, Telemann, Bach, Tchaikovsky, Rimsky Korsakov, Joaquin Rodrigo and Benjamin Godard.

The Orchestra is mostly flutes of all sizes and ranges.  I am the only regular member playing a string instrument! The bass section includes me on string bass with Nancy Newman on contrabass flute and Roger Greene on contrabass clarinet.  Roger doubles on harpsichord.  It’s the most unusual bass section I’ve ever been in.

Our group has won the 2015-2016 Greystone Concerts in the Mansions Series National Auditions.  Stay tuned for more exciting events by this top notch group featuring soloist David Shostac conducted by Gordon Halligan.
