Summer ’24

It’s been too long since I added videos at my YouTube channel youtube.com/lesliebaker

So I got to work behind the computer and hunckered down to put more of my music online for you all to enjoy, share, comment, like etc.

I am booking live events for my band. That’s been going great!

The one and only Barbara Morrison (RIP) is the star of this video. We were very close & I loved being near her.

Always great to be with Albert Trepagnier Jr. from New Orleans on drums!!

From my CD Askew Too I’ve digitized my original song “Rain Dance” and given it a new use @YouTube.com/lesliebaker

Thanks to Kevin Rhoades @backrhoadesproductions.com for creating the concert event Leslie Baker Quartet at the Sherry in noho

With drummer extraordinaire, my soul brother Ken Park!!

To round out this post I’m including a video of another original song of mine. This one includes group vocals including my singing & bass playing. This is the one we can perform at live events….

Leslie Baker Trio/Band

The people I’m connecting with can lead to ???? I’ll keep you somewhat posted here as best I can. Thanks for stopping by the website…..

Here’s a link to hear my music. No synthesizers or computers were harmed in the production of this music.

Up & Running (walking) from 2022 into 2023…..

Little by little the schedule keeps getting more filled in and interesting.

I surprise myself over how much I truly love to perform music live!

Urban Press Winery in Burbank CA is turning into a fun spot I make appearances at…

And that was just over a year ago…

Shaking off the dust somehow preparing for who knows what?!

Like I said, making gigs with talented people I like has so lifted my spirit.

My Hollywood Hang

“Don’t know what you got ’til it gone” Thankfully the school program sponsored by Los Angeles Jazz Society & others sailed once again in 2023 after a no go in 2021 & 2022.

Memories of NAMM show mostly right before Covid & the New Years Eve gig that took us into 2020

There’s a lot more going on. This is a taste. I’m feeling stronger, grateful, writing new original music, lots of exploring musical directions…& a bunch of real cool gigs!!

Leslie Baker Trio @ Urban Press Winery Burbank CA

I’m so enjoying getting back to being with live bands, live audiences!!

In the Leslie Baker Trio video are bits and pieces of our performance at the Urban Press Winery, Burbank, CA.

Adjusting to whatever’s next, I feel a bit more global even if I stay home more than I used to.

Post……?? Past……..?? Pandemic?!???

It’s 2022 Major adjustments due to pandemic conditions are upon us,

are we through yet? Of course not. I am continuing to explore musical possibilities.

Finding new ways to make music from my home studio, I practice, write and produce . I use Logic to record at home and Dorico software for writing music.

Finding time and inspiration from 2 poems, I’ve turned poems into songs.

The 1st poem from a neighbor ROADMAP:

ROADMAP

Marylou Watkins

Something changed one starless night

The roadmap shifted before the light.

Perceptions, once we thought we knew

Suddenly are no longer true.

The talking heads argue why,

While people lie and children cry,

The heroes try, the unlucky die.

Reality shifts from place to place,

Unseen forces quicken the pace.

The road is forked, the signposts gone,

The future is looking  grim.

As we seek to know the truth

In this changing paradigm.

The 2nd poem from a friend FLOW:

FLOW

(a song for sheltering in place)

Marc Berg

Wise man told me  long  ago when we can’t fight or flee we can FLOW, we can FLOW
Now it’s quiet, we have time, great to have Amazon Prime we can FLOW

Hear the music, feel the beat, make your house all nice and neat

Think of  places far from here.

Put your mind in neutral gear.

Comfort food is GOOD for you, order pizza, brownies too we can FLOW
Fields of flowers,  golden sand, fun we had in Disneyland we can FLOW

Play the music, feel the beat, make your house all nice and neat

Think of  places far from here.

Put your mind in neutral gear.

Take a nap and watch TV, YouTube videos are fun and free, we can FLOW

Pet the dog, stroke the cat, stretch out on your yoga mat we can FLOW

Wise man told me  long  ago when we can’t fight or flee, we can FLOW

“When we can’t fight or flee, we can flow.”
